Mission

FEBELIEC has a double objective to strive for in the context of the energy transition:

• competitive prices of electricity and natural gas for companies in Belgium
• security of supply of energy in Belgium

Competitive prices should in the first place be the consequence of effective competition on the electricity and natural gas markets. Moreover, the regulated part of the market should lead to correct tariffs for the use of transmission, transport and distribution grids. And last but not least, the whole of fees and taxes on electricity and natural gas should be reduced.

Security of supply can be increased by ensuring a correct functioning on the markets for primary fuels and by ensuring a sufficient diversity of primary fuels and of the technologies used for generating energy. Moreover, the infrastructure that is required for gas as well as for electricity should be developed and should be used in an optimal way to improve the market functioning and security of supply.
